Answer God's Call
Just as I am, Thine own to beFriend of the young, Who lovest me;
To consecrate myself to Thee,
O Jesus, Lord, I come.
In the glad morning of the day
My life to give, my vows to pay,
With no reserve and no delay,
With all my heart I come.
I would live ever in the light,
I would work ever for the right,
I would serve Thee with all my might,
Therefore, to Thee I come.
Just as I am, young strong and free, To be the best that I can be
For truth and righteousness and Thee,
Lord of my life, I come.
Discernment and Pre-Entrance Program!
Join our WEEKEND RETREATS
There are four weekend retreats in a year to introduce the following themes.
- Discernment: to see where God is calling and to develop a deeper awareness
- Spirituality & Prayer: to nurture a relationship and union with God
- Affective: a look at communication skills, relationships and community
- Sacred Scripture & Catholic Faith: to develop and nurture an awareness on the Catholic Church's teachings
Women on these retreats join the sisters community at prayer and at meals getting to know the community as a whole. The pre_entrance takes from six months to one year.
Discernment Process
The candidate and the community discern together if she has the calling, the openness and the characteristics of becoming a Missionary Sister of the Precious Blood.
The program is adapted to meet the persons need. Some possible alternatives are:
- A live in experience is recommended of one weekend a month which includes the retreat weekends.
- A visit for one or two weeks, at least once, but preferably two or three times in a year is recommended.
- A woman will live in a community and volunteer her services, or continue her studies (or work) for up to a year. She will join in the common prayers and meal times.
The woman discerning is encouraged to attend community feasts and celebrations such as jubilees or professions. She is invited to join other retreats with the sisters and associates, such as Advent twilight retreats.
Formation Program
Formation consists of 6 months to 1 year pre_entrance program, 1 year of postulancy or pre_novitiate, 2 years of novitiate, 5 years of temporary vows, followed by final profession of vows. After final vows a woman is a full member of the congregation and ongoing formation for spiritual growth continues.
The formation program focuses on five aspects of life and gradually deepens as one progresses in their commitment.
- Spirituality; includes prayer, sacraments and liturgical cycle, CPS spirituality, etc.
- Affective: aspect the human and personality development, communication skills, and a healthy friendly and cheerful disposition.
- Academic: the study of Sacred Scripture with salvation history, theology of faith, congregational history, etc.
- Community life: sharing and caring, a healthy attitude towards peers and authority, multi cultural integration, relationships, shared responsibility, etc.
- Apostolic: active service and learning to "pray and work", sensitivity to the needs of our society, and awareness of our common mission and the courage to go where we are asked.
Ongoing Formation
Each community prays the churches liturgy of the hours in common and each sister has time for private prayers and meditation. Each sister takes the time daily for spiritual input through scripture and spiritual reading and listening to religious tapes. A monthly recollection day with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, as well as a yearly retreat of five to eight days are some of the privileges of ongoing formation. Sisters are encouraged to take courses for self enhancement and nurturing ones wholeness in life.
